In this video, I walk you through how to create a custom character in Baldur’s Gate 3 from start to finish. The first thing I do is start a new game and pick the Custom Character option (not an Origin character), because that’s what gives you full control over both how your character looks and how they play. From there, I go through choosing your race and, if it applies, your subrace—since subraces can tweak abilities, traits, and even some dialogue options. I also point out that some races give you cantrips, which are basic spells you can use without spending spell slots. Next, I cover picking your class, because that’s what defines your playstyle—melee, magic, support, and everything in between. I also highlight that certain classes unlock extra choices right away (like druids picking starting cantrips and spells, bards choosing an instrument, and clerics selecting a deity and subclass). After that, I show where you assign ability scores like Strength, Dexterity, and Charisma, and why those stats matter for combat, dialogue checks, and skill rolls. Finally, I finish up with skill proficiencies, appearance/voice customization, difficulty selection, and reviewing everything before you confirm and jump into the adventure.
