In this video I show you how chatting works in Heartopia, and the main thing to understand is this: you don’t really “unlock” the speech bubble chat until you add a friend first. I walk you through where to go—hit the tabs and open the Friendship Journal—then either add someone by entering their Member UID, or just add people who are already in your lobby. Once you’ve got a friend added, you’ll see the speech bubble feature become available. After that, I explain the two big chat-related systems: the speech bubble typing indicator and the Friendship Journal tools. If you’re standing next to your friend, you can type and send messages using the bubble chat (you’ll literally see the typing bubble pop up). And inside the Friendship Journal, you can also communicate by sending postcards—just note you may need to purchase a postcard first, although the Daily Greetings option is usually free once per day. I also break down friendship levels: the more you interact (high five, holding hands, friend chat, postcards, teleporting), the more you level up and unlock extra actions like energetic high five, shoulder check, and even pet interactions.
