Yeah—finally. I literally picked it up about 10 minutes before filming, and it feels so good to be behind the wheel again after about a month and a half. The truck looks super clean now, and I’m happy that dent is gone.

What repairs were done to the Tacoma after the damage?

They had to change the whole bed liner, so that part is completely brand new. Everything else back there is basically the same, but they did a really good job on the details. They even did the fender trim and put the weather stripping back on with the double-sided tape.

Why is the TRD Off Road sticker missing on the bed side?

It’s missing because the bed side got repaired and I didn’t have the sticker put back on yet. I run the matte black TRD Off Road decals, not the stock ones, for obvious reasons. I’ve got another one at home and I’m just gonna put it back on.

What mods are next for TacoMan D’s Tacoma build?

Now that I’ve got the truck back, it’s time to get the Baja Designs front bumper light bar installed. I’m also swapping headlights—either AlphaRex or Morimoto—and adding a Switch-Pros to clean up all my wiring. Then the bed rack goes back on, and the tent will go on when the next trip is planned.

Is TacoMan D going to run 35s on the Tacoma, and what’s required?

Yeah, I’m getting ready for 35s, but I know I’m gonna rub up front if I don’t handle clearance. It’s going to require a cab mount relocation, and I might have to trim more up front depending on how it sits. The rear has plenty of room, especially with that fender trim.

How does TacoMan D plan to protect the intake without a snorkel?

I’m thinking about doing something super cheap and simple—like some PVC piping to cover the intake area and face upward a bit. I don’t want a snorkel because I just don’t like how snorkels look. I like the sleek look of the front end the way it is.

Is TacoMan D getting a spray-in bed liner?

Accepted Answer

I’m considering it because the plastic bed is really slippery, and I like the rugged look of spray-in that goes all the way around and onto the tailgate. It’s not really necessary, and I don’t have issues with the current liner. But since the bed is brand new, it would add protection.
