What’s up YouTube—today I’m tackling theft prevention on my 3rd gen Tacoma, because it’s getting ridiculous out here. In my last video someone tried stealing my tailgate, and when they couldn’t get it off (I keep it locked), they still managed to break my rear tail light and brackets. So in this one I’m adding the next layer of protection: catalytic converter shields on both the driver and passenger side. I’m installing the TacomaBeast catalytic converter shields, and the setup is pretty straightforward—nice thick plates, labeled for driver/passenger, and it’s only four bolts per side with the provided security bit. I walk through how the shields slide behind the loosened bolts, where the rubber grommets go, and how everything sits flush to fully block access to the cat. Passenger side went on super easy. Driver side was a pain in the butt for me because I’ve got a skid plate, so I had to loosen and remove hardware and deal with a support bracket that was snagging. In the end, once I removed the bracket that tied my 4x4 skid plate into that support, the shield fit fine. If you don’t have a skid plate, this is honestly a quick install—like 30 minutes max—and it’s something I’d say get ASAP with cat thefts going up.
