What’s up YouTube—this one kicks off my 1300-mile road trip from California to Colorado in my 3rd gen Tacoma. I left at 12:45 a.m. (yeah… early) and basically lived at gas stations the whole way. I’m averaging about 13.5 mpg, so it’s definitely an expensive trip, but the views through Utah were insane—salt marshes, mountains that don’t even look real, and a couple spots like Vail where I had to drive around and check out the river and the houses. After about 17 hours, I finally made it to Denver, and I break down what the drive actually cost me—right around $480 in gas, which was a little less than I expected since I was filling up around half a tank each time. Then it’s straight into trail prep mode, because the whole point of this trip is off-roading. I’m meeting up with family and linking up with my cousin in his Jeep Gladiator (Launch Edition on 37s), and we’re getting ready to run Coney Flats. I air down to about 20 PSI, get the GoPros set, and we start working through the rocky, chunky stuff—exactly the kind of terrain I built this Tacoma for.
