Today I’m checking out the Donner x MIYAVI Double Swords BLUE (AO) Dimension Weaver — the “Owl” one — and it’s a super fun little chorus/delay/reverb box that’s doing the hybrid thing: chorus and delay feel analog-ish, and the reverb is digital (sadly, not real springs… I’m afraid). I run it through a rig with the Cherry Tone Creme Brulee, a Mozztronics/Brix-style amp switching situation, a Two Notes Torpedo Captor X, and we’re also trying an AKG C151 for the voice. I go effect-by-effect: S-Verb first (dwell/tone/mix), then delay (level/time/repeat), then chorus (depth/rate/level). The big takeaway: there’s basically no “bad sounds,” just extreme ones. The reverb gets properly grand and pretty, but if you hit it hard—especially with humbuckers or a low-tuned baritone—you can get this cool distorted reverb trail thing that almost feels like a drive hiding in there. The delay is lovely and a bit crunchy/lofi when pushed, but my one little sadness is it doesn’t self-oscillate even with the repeats dimed. Chorus is the standout for me: I like it best at the slower, flangeresque rate, and I’d happily use this on a board.
