Today Alex and I break our RAGE (sorry) with the Donner x MIYAVI Double Swords RED “Rage Breaker” — an all‑analog drive pedal that’s doing the “half fuzz, half boost, half overdrive” thing… which is, mathematically, a lot of halves. We run it through the Creme Brulee from Cherry Tone, using our Mozztronics amp switcher and a Two Notes Torpedo Captor X, and I start everything at noon because that’s the law. We also poke at the little switches on the bottom (3 dB boost and bright) and, spoiler: they’re subtle. I go mode by mode: overdrive first (nice, a bit of that marshy top‑end fizzle, and I actually prefer it at lower gain—especially with the Tele-style single coils). Then fuzz, where the gate can get absolutely ridiculous (I called it a “security gate” because you can gate it so hard you basically hear nothing). Finally the boost, which I think is genuinely good and, even better, it wakes the fuzz up by adding some top end and brightness. We test with single coils, humbuckers (Guild Polara), and low tuning on a baritone in B standard, and my overall takeaway is: it looks cool, it’s built well, and “everything on full” is hilariously satisfying.
