Are the MixWave EHX plugins officially licensed by Electro-Harmonix?

Accepted Answer

Yep—these are official Electro-Harmonix plugins by MixWave. In this video I’m going through the Deluxe Memory Man, Electric Mistress, Small Clone, and the Big Muff collection (Classic, Rams Head, and Black Russian). They were provided to me by MixWave, but it’s not a paid video, so all the opinions are mine.

What pedals are included in the MixWave EHX Classics Bundle?

Accepted Answer

In this video I cover the Small Clone chorus, Electric Mistress flanger, Deluxe Memory Man delay, and the Big Muff with three versions (Standard/Classic, Rams Head, and Black Russian). The Muff thing is cool because you can flip between the versions right in the plugin. And each version remembers its own settings, which is handy.

How did you record and set up the demo for the EHX plugins?

Accepted Answer

I’m going guitar straight into the DI input of my Audient iD44, straight into Logic—none of the amps behind me are on. I’m using a Benson Chimera plugin as the clean base sound with a bit of reverb and cab. No post editing other than maybe volume matching, and I record via a bus so I don’t have to automate every knob.

Do the MixWave EHX plugins have features the real pedals don’t?

Accepted Answer

Yeah, and it’s actually useful stuff: you get dry/wet control, BPM sync, and input/output high-pass and low-pass filters. For example, on the Small Clone you can do the over-the-top chorus thing and then back it off with wet/dry. And on the Big Muff, rolling off top end with an output low-pass filter helps when the tone gets a bit… you know… fizzy up there.

How long is the delay time on the MixWave Deluxe Memory Man plugin?

Accepted Answer

It’s got an extended delay mode, and that takes it up to 3 seconds. You can also sync it to tempo, and you’ve got the usual Memory Man style controls plus chorus/vibrato modulation. I tend to like it around that 230–250ms area for the classic vibe, but the long stuff is great for spacey builds.

Which Big Muff version did you like best in the plugin?

I liked the Black Russian a lot when I was flipping through them, especially for that chunky thing. But when I swapped to my lower-tuned guitar (D standard), I actually reckoned the original/classic Big Muff sounded the best there. Also worth saying: it can get noisy, especially with certain guitars, but that’s kind of part of the deal with fuzz.

Can you stack the MixWave EHX plugins like real pedals?

Accepted Answer

Yep, and I do exactly that—chorus into fuzz, then delay, then even the Electric Mistress in there as well. Because the amp is clean in this demo, the “pedalboard” order is really obvious and you can hear what each thing is doing. It gets noisy with a bunch of stuff on, but it’s a fun, very real-world kind of noisy.
