About This Video

It’s time for some more unboxing and first impressions, and in this video I’m cracking open the Donner x MIYAVI “Double Swords” series and plugging them in for the very first time. I know basically nothing going in (on purpose), so this is pure “out of the box, make noise, see what happens” vibes—no manual, no deep dive, just shiny pedals and immediate opinions. The red one is the drive box with three sections: boost, fuzz, and overdrive. The blue one is the time/mod box with delay, chorus, and the “Sverb” thing. For the setup, I’m on my Gordon Smith Gatsby into the red pedal, then into the blue pedal, into my amp switcher with the Revv D20 selected, and I’m using the D20’s XLR out with Celestion IRs. The big takeaways: the overdrive and fuzz both sound properly good right away, and the boost is more of a volume push than a “tons of gain” situation—so watch your levels because I managed to clip my interface when it got loud. On the blue pedal, the chorus is lovely (I’m a slow rate, big depth person), the delay sounds really nice (but I couldn’t get it to self-oscillate, and the mix tops out around 50/50), and the Sverb surprised me because it feels like there’s some drive/distortion happening in there. Full, proper videos with Alex are coming—this one’s just the first look fun.
