Donner sent me a guitar… a very small guitar… the Hush X travel guitar. In this video I do a proper “out of the box and plug it in for the first time” first look: unboxing the bag/case, checking out the headless/bodyless design, and seeing what’s actually included (and it’s a lot). You get the clip-on tuner, cable, strap(s), a 9V battery, Allen keys, picks, a cloth, and even headphones—so it’s not just “here’s a guitar, good luck.” Once it’s out, I run through the controls and hardware: pickup selector, concentric volume/tone, the tuning system down at the bridge, and the active/passive switch. I show the battery cavity on the back (with the Allen keys tucked in there), then I plug in and test clean and dirty tones through my usual setup (vamp tuner into the Mozztronics switcher, Engle Iron Ball SE, then Two Notes with Headfirst cabs). I also try the headphone output, which gives me a straight guitar signal, and I talk honestly about feel and setup: it tuned up, stayed in tune after a little low-E tightening, feels light and ergonomic, and it probably wants a small setup and fret polish. Overall, for the money (around $399 AUD), it’s a pretty cool little travel solution.
