Today I’m checking out an acoustic that genuinely surprised me: the Auden Emily Rose Tobacco (their “parlour size, full body” model). I first ran into Auden at the Melbourne Guitar Show, met Doug (owner of Auden and Gordon Smith), played a bunch of their acoustics, and this little one really stuck in my head—so DI Music in Australia loaned it to me for a proper look (not a freebie, not sponsored). In the video, Alex and I do room-mic playing, then we dig into specs, fit and finish, and why this guitar feels way more “high-end” than you’d expect when you first see the small body. Spec-wise, it’s a 4A cedar top with African mahogany back/sides/neck, ebony board and bridge, lovely maple/ebony detailing, and Schaller 18:1 open tuners that feel properly engineered. The big headline for me is the sound: it’s sweet, warm, and mellow, with a surprising amount of bottom end for a parlour—more “low mids and sweetness” than boomy dreadnought thump. We also demo the Supernatural pickup/preamp system (sliders for bass/mids/treble/volume plus EQ presets), and I show the clever battery tool that makes battery swaps quick and painless. Bottom line: if you want a small guitar that doesn’t sound boxy, this one’s a bit of a little giant.
