About This Video

In this little Thursday small business owner daily vlog, I’m starting the day the way I always do on volunteer days—making myself some lunch to take along and getting ready to head out to Faulland Palace, where I volunteer as a garden volunteer with the National Trust for Scotland. It was a really, really hot one, so I kept things simple: egg mayo on sourdough, a coffee (even though it definitely wasn’t coffee weather), and I brought in the rhubarb muffins too—very tart, but still perfectly edible (honestly, they’d be amazing with custard!). When I got home, it was proper heatwave weather, so I cooled down for a bit and then got on with a very real-life small business job: sorting my fabric stock for Etsy. I keep fat quarters cut and ready because it makes packing orders so much quicker, and I realised I had a few fabrics on the shelf that weren’t even listed yet—so I cut them up and planned photos for later. I also chatted through ideas like making coordinated fabric bundles for patchwork, or even mystery bundles. I finished the day staying downstairs where it was cooler, thinking about choosing a book, and planning an easy tea (puff pastry tarts) plus a few little updates for tomorrow—hairdressers, post office, and avoiding switching the iron on if it’s still roasting.
