About This Video

In this springtime ā€œnew beginningsā€ vlog, I’m very much full of the joys of spring (and I make no apologies for going on about the sunshine). I start with a little scrap-busting moment—cutting fabric strips to tie onto brown-paper birthday parcels—because I love that clashy floral look, especially when the edges fray. Then I share what I’ve been up to lately: gardening at home, baking, reading, and a wee peek at my volunteering mornings as a garden volunteer with the National Trust for Scotland at Falkland Palace. On the crafty side, I show you some fresh spring baskets that are hot off the sewing machine—think florals, pastels, pretty pinks, and of course gingham (you’ll hear me say that a lot). I’m also getting my houseplants and seedlings going again: watering cacti, admiring my amaryllis, and sowing seeds (including pelargoniums and borage) using saved tubs as mini propagators. Plus, I bake blueberry, coconut and pecan muffins from my Deliciously Ella book (with my usual little tweaks). To finish, I start a granny stripe crochet blanket as a Christmas gift, chat about being fussy with colour (especially reds!), and share the foundationless chain method that makes starting blankets so much nicer. I also do a practical bit of visible-ish mending on my jeans using a darning stitch on my sewing machine—very satisfying.
