About This Video

In this cosy little autumn vlog I’m pottering about with all the restorative bits and bobs that make these darker months feel a bit softer. I finally finished my knitted pumpkin (it’s been sat waiting far too long), knitting it in the round and then decreasing at the top before cinching it in with an actual needle. The bottom was a bit of a ā€œmake it workā€ moment too, but honestly… pumpkins aren’t perfect in nature, so I’m calling it perfect. I then crocheted a couple of leaves in an olive green that looks so right with my burnt orange, and I had a little play with tendrils (they didn’t want to spiral at first, which was rude, but we got there). I’ll be adding a proper stalk as well, partly because a pumpkin needs one, and partly to hide my messy sewing-in. I also share a little sewing update: I made a lovely small collection of fabric baskets in really autumnal tones (with one red dot fabric that’s a bit Christmassy, but I couldn’t not use it). They’re such a useful size for tiny projects, yarn balls and scrappy bits, and I even made a ā€œbabyā€ version of my big basket which I’m completely obsessed with. Alongside the cosy making, I chat about settling into my archaeology university course, feeling much calmer now I know what I’m doing, and making time to read instead of doom scrolling. It’s a gentle reminder to give yourself permission for 10–20 minutes of proper rest—especially in autumn and winter.
