It is most definitely autumn, and I was so ready to embrace it properly—wind, rain, official storm and all. In this cosy vlog I give my living room an autumnal refresh, which for me basically means: clear the surfaces, do a proper deep clean (I’m not the most houseworky person, so I need the seasonal motivation), and then reassess what actually deserves to be out. I switch away anything that feels spring/summer and bring in the cosy bits—pumpkins, toadstools, pine cones, little handmade pieces, and the knick-knacks I’ve collected (and loved) over the years. I also try out my new “most middle-aged purchase of my life”: the Pery & Fig cleaning set, in real time, bought with my own money (not an ad). I choose the geranium and ylang ylang scent, and I’m honest about my slight disappointment when I realised each “oil” is a full bottle you tip in, not drops. Still—my living room ends up smelling gorgeous, and everything looks clean, shiny and ready for candlelight evenings. Along the way I faff with styling (heights matter!), move plants around so they don’t hate the radiator, rescue a snapped pelargonium, and generally have that familiar “move it… no, move it back” moment. And I also share a little reminder about overconsumption: you don’t need to buy loads of new autumn decor—what you already have is enough.
