About This Video

Good afternoon and welcome back to my little vlog. In this late summer catch-up I’m easing back into “normal services” after a quiet month away from the camera (which, honestly, was really nice). School going back has brought a big sigh of relief, but it’s also a bit bittersweet because it feels like the end of summer is creeping in—socks are back on, the fleece is out, and the sun is definitely lower in the sky (and I don’t like it). I chat about what I’ve been up to with some lovely child-free time: lots of walks, paddle boarding, beach time, and even the most grown-up purchase ever… a new lawn mower. I also share a proper book chat—what I’ve just finished (Murder on the Menu, a pleasant cosy crime but not a page-turner), what I’ve got lined up next (the next Seven Sisters from the library), and a couple of charity shop finds, including an Eve Chase novel and Wild by Cheryl Strayed (definitely one for the cold, cosy days). I also update you on the archaeology dig I did—how it turned into more days than planned, what I found, and the two new digs I’ve arranged for September. And of course there’s a little bit of making too: I’ve sewn some gorgeous autumny fabric baskets, and I’ve got zippy project bags cut out ready for the next burst of sewing.
