In this video I’m talking about the Hollyland Lark M2 (yeah, the tiny wireless lav you’ve probably seen all over YouTube) and why it ended up doing way more than I bought it for. I originally grabbed it so I could get solid audio for my talking-head segments without dealing with a whole bunch of cables, and for the price—my kit was about $130—it absolutely delivers. It’s basically that “DJI/RØDE-style” wireless lav setup, but in a super simple package. What surprised me is that it straight-up replaced my usual gaming headset/streaming mic setup. Because my kit came with both the camera receiver (I had it on my Lumix S9) and a USB-C receiver, I plugged the USB-C dongle into my PC, set it as the default input, and it just worked in-game. That means I can use my DT1990 headphones for competitive gaming and still have a decent-quality mic that’s wireless, charges fast in the case, and clips on whenever I want. I also mention you can do the same trick on a MacBook for an absolutely overkill work-from-home Zoom setup—ridiculous, but it works.
