I have been having a ton of fun testing out my Lumix S9 that I just bought. My M42-L adapter came in the mail so this is a quick video testing my old Soviet era Helios-42 on the camera. I love the way the Bokeh looks! Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C9HVGY8D?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 #lumixs9 #lumix #cinematography #photography #helios44 #vintagelens

About This Video

In this video I’m basically doing a quick, real‑world test: I slapped my old Soviet‑era Helios 44-2 (58mm) onto my brand new LUMIX S9 with an M42-to-L mount adapter to see if I could actually get that famous “swirly bokeh” to show up. Spoiler: at f/2 this lens is just ridiculous. The background starts twisting into these wild swirls, and once you get the right light behind you, it becomes super obvious why people chase this look. This is not a “perfect” vlogging setup—manual focus on a 58mm is asking for pain, and I even admit I might not be tack sharp the whole time. But for talking-head shots (with someone behind the camera) or controlled filmmaking, it’s a vibe. I’m also stacking a 4-stop ND and a 1/4 Black Pro-Mist because that’s what I had on my iPhone setup, and it adds a little extra character on top of the Helios artifacts. If you’re trying to give your S9 a unique, vintage look without spending modern cine lens money, this combo is pure fun.
