About This Video

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done any kind of vlogging, so I took my newly purchased Panasonic LUMIX S9 out for a walk and just… rambled while stress-testing it in the real world. Yeah, I bought the “black sheep” camera that got a ton of hate a few months back—but the recent update fixing the recording limits was the whole reason I finally pulled the trigger. I also talk through why I still like carrying a dedicated camera even when my phone can technically do everything: I just love the tactile feel and the mental separation from the smartphone. I mess around with the built-in LUTs (Blue Sky made me look wildly blue), then swap to my own Fuji Classic Chrome-style LUT for golden hour, and it looks fantastic. From there I test the in-body stabilization and then turn on electronic stabilization on top—there’s a crop, but the stabilization and image quality honestly shocked me. I also mention the kit lens being an absolute chonker, why I’m looking at smaller autofocus glass (Sigma 45), and how excited I am to adapt vintage lenses like the Helios 44-2 and old FD glass. The biggest “keep it” reason for me is the Lumix Lab app + MP4 Lite open gate workflow: baking my look into the footage and having clips basically show up on my iPhone after a walk is a legit workflow game changer for quick social uploads.
