About This Video
I’ve owned the Apple Vision Pro for about four months now, and this video is me trying to give the most real-world, post-honeymoon take I can. I originally bought it as a semi-impulse purchase after my work monitor died, and I justified it by trading in old Apple gear to bring the price down. I’m also a big VR person (Quest 2, Quest 3, Valve Index—I've got the legs), so mixed reality was always going to be interesting to me. My main use case was productivity: Mac Virtual Display plus extra windows floating around it.
That workflow is still the best part—when it works. I’m hybrid, and in the office I use the Vision Pro as my monitor two to three times a week and it’s awesome for privacy and overall focus. At home, though, I’m using it less because a work VPN change now causes the Vision Pro connection to disconnect, which is a huge buzzkill. The “magic” of placing Safari/YouTube anywhere in your space still hasn’t worn off, but realistically I’d rather watch content on my 85-inch TV with my wife. Comfort-wise, swapping to a different light seal was a game-changer—I went from “this hurts” to wearing it for hours. Do I regret it? Maybe a little, mostly because the high price is slowing app development. I really hope Apple can bring the next one closer to $1,000–$1,500 so this category doesn’t stall out.
