In this video I wanted to do something a little different: I went back and revisited one of the earliest reviews on my channel—the Mionix Castor—to see if I still feel the same way now that I’ve tested a ton more mice and gear. Mionix sent me a newer Castor variant plus one of their desk pads, but all the opinions here are still 100% mine. The big headline is that the new Castor is basically the original Castor: same shape, same sensor, same rubberized feel. The main changes are updated colors and the removal of RGB on the colored versions. I still think the Castor is a fantastic mouse, but my perspective has changed. The shape is super comfortable for me and works for gaming, editing, and daily use—but it’s not a “safe” shape because the side grooves force your fingers into specific positions, which won’t fit everyone. I also talk about weight (93g) and why the ultralight trend is a little overblown—weight is subjective, and performance comes down to comfort and control. Performance-wise, the PixArt 3310 still tracks great with no weird jitters, but I’m also straight-up telling Mionix to just put a 3360 in already. I also cover their huge desk pad, which is a smooth control surface that tracks really well, even without edge stitching.
