In this video I’m taking a look at the updated Beachtek DXA Micro Pro Plus—one of my favorite accessories for my Panasonic GH4/GH5 style setup. I reviewed the original DXA Micro Pro a while back, and the core idea is the same: it’s a super simple way to get XLR into your camera and make YouTube/creator audio way less of a headache. But the “Plus” version fixes the biggest thing that drove me insane on the original: power. The old model ran on a 9V battery and I swear it felt like it died every three hours—plus I hate 9V batteries because you never have them when you need them. The new Pro Plus swaps that for an internal rechargeable battery (around 10 hours) and adds micro‑USB so I can charge it or even run it off an external power bank indefinitely. I also ran some quick noise/gain tests with my Rode NTG4+ and noticed I could keep the gain 1–2 notches lower than before, which helps keep background hiss down. Bottom line: if you’re buying new and can handle the price bump, the Pro Plus is the easy pick; if you already own the original, you can probably skip the upgrade unless you really need the battery features.
