This is the exact setup I was using on the channel for a few months, and I still love it because it’s cheap, effective, and (in my opinion) it looks pretty cool—especially if you’re in a small apartment or you don’t have the budget for a full studio build. The whole trick is simple: a TP-Link RGB Wi‑Fi bulb (or two) in a cheap light fixture, pointed at a white wall. With the Kasa app I can dial in basically any color, and I can even control it with voice commands through Google Home so I’m not fumbling with my phone while I’m in frame. I also break down the basics of why your key light and kicker light matter—key keeps you from blending into the background, and kicker keeps you from looking like a “sticker.” If you want the colors to pop, darken the room and use blackout curtains, because ambient window light will kill your saturation.
