I’ve been seeing a ton of Upwork jobs asking for ClickUp automations in n8n, so I put this tutorial together to show exactly how I set ClickUp up inside n8n and start building workflows fast. I walk through the updated credential flow using a ClickUp personal API token (Settings → Apps → generate/regenerate token), then we zoom out and talk about the ClickUp hierarchy—workspaces, spaces, folders, lists, tasks—so you’re not guessing where each node is supposed to write data. From there, I demo two simple but very real workflows. First is automated onboarding: imagine a form/webhook comes in, we create the right ClickUp structure (folders/tasks), and then send a welcome email—no manual copy/paste. Second is transcript-to-task extraction, which is something I’m seeing a lot with customers: we take a meeting transcript, use an AI agent to extract multiple tasks (name, description, priority 1–4), split the array into items, and create tasks in ClickUp automatically. I also show how ClickUp triggers can start workflows (27 triggers), and when you’ll need the HTTP Request node for anything not covered by the native ClickUp actions. Finally, I give you a challenge project: pull ClickUp data, generate a Google Doc report, convert it to PDF, and email it out for client updates.
