Day 175 of my “Journey of an Eorzean Lifetime” and we’re basically staring down the barrel of the end of Stormblood. This episode is a classic me combo: a bit of cursed Gold Saucer gambling (I’m still not emotionally recovered from learning the expensive stuff is like 4 mil… I’m never getting there), then I round up the Go Merry Crew and we go get absolutely bullied in Suzaku Extreme—blind, first time, and yes, “zero deaths” in the same way I’m “totally fine” when I’m not. Suzaku EX is a genuinely sick fight, but it’s also mean. Between the chasey adds, the feather pillars, the pull-in/knockback dance routine, and the platform color/explosion phase, my brain is working overtime while I’m tanking and trying not to get launched into the void. We prog, we learn, I get cooked, I get saved, I fall in the hole (both), and I slowly start to understand what’s actually happening—right as the fight ramps into that spicy last phase where everything stacks at once. After the prog, I pivot because I’ve been dangling Patch 4.5 for a while and I’m a man of my word. The end of Stormblood is starting, Shadowbringers is getting closer, and I’m already feeling that “oh no, it’s happening” energy—so we pause Suzaku EX and plan to finish it off-stream with the community in Discord.
