The trailer kicks off and I’m immediately like “what is going on with this music?” because it’s doing that thing FFXIV does where it feels illegal to be this dramatic. I’m hearing “Warrior of Light,” seeing the storm imagery, and I’m already spiralling because it feels like the game is calling me out personally. Then it just keeps escalating. I’m pausing to ask a million questions—where are we, what timeline is this, is that the Crystal Tower, why does this all feel like a massive throwback, and who is this “mean little” person? There’s dragon hype, Matoya name-drops, and that whole vibe of “accept fate or defy it” that makes me go full goblin. And right when I think I’ve got a handle on it, the trailer hits me with “become the Warrior of Darkness” and I’m just sat there like… wait, what the actual hell is happening?
