I can’t believe we’re in September already — and in our house that means we’re heading into gifting season fast. With Isla turning four in October (and Christmas not far behind), I wanted to share a Montessori-aligned way to approach gifts when children already have an abundance of toys. I like to keep our playroom clutter-free, so in this video I go through 20 amazing non-toy gift ideas that are genuinely useful, meaningful, and supportive of your child’s development. I cover practical, real-life gifts like instruments your child can actually master, child-sized kitchen tools for your little amateur chef, and nature tools like binoculars, magnifying glasses, microscopes, or even a telescope for children who love to explore. I also share ideas for craft and DIY kits (felting, knitting, embroidery, slime, bath bombs, plaster of Paris), plus art supplies that can grow with your child. And because I’m a big believer in experiences, I talk about gifting days out, subscriptions, sports gear, lessons, books (books and more books!), tents for den-building children, and even adopting an animal locally so your child can visit and interact in real life.
