In this video I’m taking you on an updated Montessori at home classroom tour for 2022, showing you exactly how I’ve set up our homeschool space here in Dubai for Isla (just turned five) and Iris (two and a half). We used to have our classroom tucked into our small “maids room,” but as the girls’ interests (and our resources) grew, we simply ran out of space. Now our classroom and play space are combined in our living area, and I actually love the separation this creates—school and Montessori work downstairs, toys mostly upstairs—so the girls aren’t staring at the same four walls all day. I walk you through our main shelves: language (including my second-hand Lakeshore sound tubs, sandpaper letters, movable alphabets, and phonics games the girls can do together), maths (from early number bonds and clip cards to Montessori beads, teen boards, and materials I’m prepping for later like the stamp game), and our “everything else” shelf with non-fiction books, sensorial materials, practical life, and topic work. I also share what’s working for us right now—like keeping activities accessible, rotating printables, and choosing resources that allow Iris to join in even before she’s reading.
