Have you ever heard the term, “Sharing is Caring!”? Chances are if you are a parent or teacher, you have heard another parent or colleague state this rather matter of factly when watching two children battle it out over a much sought after toy or piece of play equipment at the park. But, is ‘sharing’ really caring? Does the act of forced sharing teach our children what we think it ought to? What effect might limiting a child’s time with toys have on their development? And, if we don’t make our children share with one another, are they destined to become eternally uncooperative selfish beings? I do not teach my children to share and in this video, I’ll explain why and I’ll also share what I do instead.
