In this video I’m giving you an updated tour of our Montessori homeschool classroom, because it’s changed so much since I filmed my very first YouTube video. We live in a two-bedroom villa in Dubai, and our “classroom” is actually the tiny maids room—so it’s definitely a squish and a squeeze—but I’ve done my best to use what we have and still keep it functional. I walk you through the space shelf-by-shelf, sharing what I’ve put out for my four-year-old (Isla) and what I’m saving for my almost-two-year-old (Iris), plus why some materials live higher up (because toddlers!). I show you our maths area (number pegs, 100 square, stamp game, bead materials, golden beads, sandpaper numbers, teens boards) and chat honestly about what Isla is actually interested in right now—mostly simple addition within 10, more out of curiosity than anything. Then I take you to our language shelf: reading books (and why she chooses the Biff, Chip & Kipper-style stories over black-and-white phonics readers), CVC baskets, sandpaper letters, rhyming bingo, and my large movable alphabet that I use for lessons like magic e. I also share our current topic work (desert animals, bones we found in the desert, local UAE money for “playing shops,” and telling the time), plus a few resources I’m prepping—like geometric solids cards and handwriting sheets.
