In this video, I’m digging into another “new to me” product from my stash: Annabelle’s Perfect Blends Extreme Hydration Styling Custard. I’m continuing with their Extreme Hydration line (I’ve tried the mask before and actually enjoyed using it up), but this wash day was a protein day, so I wanted something to bring the moisture back in. Off rip though… when I opened it, it was giving cream, not custard. And y’all know I’m not a cream girl by choice, so I was already side-eyeing it a little. I used my SheaMoisture Daily Hydration Coconut spray leave-in as a light primer, then went in with the “custard” for a braid out (middle part and all, because I’m trying to stop over-parting on the sides). Application felt like rubbing in a whipped butter—moisturizing, yes, but not really giving that custard-type hold or definition. My braids started looking frizzy while still in the set, which is never a good sign for longevity. The final braid out looked cute and my hair was soft, shiny, and definitely hydrated—but by day two/three, the definition in my tighter sections was basically gone, especially with rainy weather. For me, this isn’t a true styler and it likely won’t be a repurchase, but I will use it up (maybe layered with a mousse/gel or used more like a midweek moisture product).
