Hey y’all, in this video I’m revisiting an OG natural hair combo that had the girls (and guys) in a chokehold: the SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In paired with the Jamaican Black Castor + Flaxseed Eco Styler Gel. I’ve been on a mission to use up my stash (I’ve got products with only a few uses left), and both of these were already on my “use it up” list—so I figured, why not spin the block and finally try the combo for real? I start on a fresh, moisturizing wash day base (shampoo, condition, deep condition), then apply the SheaMoisture leave-in on wet-to-damp hair because that’s what works best for me. It’s not the slippiest leave-in ever and the scent is…distinct (some people say Play-Doh), but it’s an old faithful when I want that moisture + protein feel. Then I go in with Eco on wet hair for definition, and yes—Eco feels heavy on my strands and I even got a little balling on my hands, so I was watching for flakes. Day 5 updates surprised me: the wash and go held up really nicely with minimal manipulation, still had a good mix of definition and frizz, and looked pretty darn good almost a week later. I do wish it was shinier, and I still don’t think this gel is truly a “level 10” hold on my hair—but overall, the OG combo ate. If you’ve got other classic combos I should try next, drop them below.
