Hey y’all, it’s Mink, and in this wash day I finally tried the combo I’d been dying to test: The Doux Big Poppa gel + the Crazy Sexy Curl Honey Setting Foam (and I did it with no leave-in). This was also my first wash day coming off a two-week silk press, plus I had a fresh trim, so I was really expecting this wash and go to start 2026 with a bang. I applied everything on wet hair (because if you know, you know), went gel first then mousse on top, did my little “not fully shingling” separation, and the wet results were honestly eating—definition, clumps, and shine were out of this world. But once real life kicked in… whew. Dry time was a con for me (I ended up under the dryer), and by day one I already had more frizz than I wanted—especially in my thicker/coarser areas. By day three, the shape wasn’t my fave and the combo wasn’t blending all my textures like my best stylers do. By day five (stretched), it looked better, but I also had flakes—and y’all know I hate flakes, especially when both stylers are from the same brand and the directions say no leave-in. My takeaway: both products can be “good,” but this combo isn’t a wow for my once-a-week routine, and I actually prefer the honey mousse on its own.
