About This Video

Hey y’all, in this video I’m getting into my Book Outlet $5.99 fiction book haul, and yes… it’s a stupid amount of books. Book Outlet is literally the plug because they get overflow/overstock from big retailers (Target, Barnes & Noble, etc.), so you can snag hardcovers and paperbacks for $5.99—sometimes books I just saw in-store for $25+ or even $32. I also share my little tip: pay attention to format if you’re picky like me and want all your series/authors to line up on the shelf (paperback vs hardcover). I start with one non-Book Outlet find: “Take My Hand” (historical fiction) that I found at Dollar Tree for $1.50—still gagged. Then we go through the paperbacks (like “Everything’s Fine,” a workplace-to-romance situation with racial undertones; “How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water,” which gives messy real life in a job-counselor/therapy-style setup; and “The Death of Vivek Oji,” because I’m collecting Akwaeke Emezi at this point). After that it’s hardcover city: “Rebecca, Not Becky” (suburban Virginia racial tension + friendship), “Audrey & Bash Are Just Friends” (a YA-ish spin-off vibe from “Seven Days in June”), thrill/mystery picks like “The List” and “The Only One Left,” and heavy-hitters like Ta-Nehisi Coates’ “The Water Dancer.” I save my most anticipated for last: “Ours,” a 600+ page book I refused to pay full price for—$5.99, thank you!
