In this video I’m getting into all of my 5-star reads—straight off my Goodreads folder—so it’s literally the books that had me locked in, thinking about the characters like they’re real people. I pulled what I could from my shelves, but I also had to be honest about the Kindle situation… because come to find out I’ve got like 500 books on there (shout out to Stuff Your Kindle Days). I share what each book is about, what made it hit for me, and who I think would actually enjoy it. I talk through recent favorites like “Black Cake” (yes, it lived up to the hype), my all-time favorite “Don’t Cry for Me” by Daniel Black (mandatory reading, I don’t make the rules), and romances that range from sweet to messy to grown-and-sexy. I also dip into my nonfiction bag with Ta-Nehisi Coates, and I’m very transparent about spice levels, tropes (sapphic romance, why choose, poly/throuple), and whether a book feels heavy or more like a palate cleanser.
