In this video I’m breaking down the brand new One UI 8 Beta 6 update that just dropped (Thursday, August 28th) and why it really feels like we’re getting close to the end of the beta program. The update is smaller than the last one, and that’s usually a good sign—Samsung is winding things down, there are fewer bugs left to squash, and the software is starting to feel like a normal monthly update instead of a big “beta jump.” I walk through the patch notes, including the big headline: the September security patch is already here before September even hits. I love when Samsung does that—I just wish they were more consistent. Beta 6 also tackles a handful of issues like lock screen notification/icon behavior, font bugs, widget text truncation, a clock widget time display error, and a few other stability fixes. I also show you how I check the security patch details, and I point out that Google Play system updates are still stuck on July on my device. Real-world use matters to me, so I talk battery and heat: after installing, I’m seeing solid battery behavior, basically no warmth, and no weird stutters or lag. For beta software, that’s saying something. At this point, I’m comfortable saying if you’ve been on the fence, you can jump into the One UI 8 beta and enjoy what feels like a preview of the stable release.
