In this video I’m breaking down the One UI 8.5 beta and the real question everybody asks: should you download it right now? I’ve been running Beta 1 since it dropped last Monday, and honestly, beta software in 2026 is way more of a “preview experience” than a “broken experience.” Software is just more polished now, so most things work — what takes time is getting used to the new changes Samsung is making. The biggest thing with One UI 8.5 is the adjustment period. Samsung moved stuff around, like search being down at the bottom in Settings, and you’ll notice more floating action buttons and bottom-positioned controls across apps. The quick settings panel is also reworked with more customization, including vertical sliders for things like volume/brightness — and I even caught a live bug where the quick grid was showing more than it should. Bug-wise, my Edge Panel sometimes doesn’t work on the home screen, and picture-in-picture can glitch if I try to trigger it back-to-back. Battery life started a little rough on day one (like most updates), but after settling in, it’s been great. And weirdly enough, my Galaxy Buds 3 Pro charging issues stopped after installing One UI 8.5, so that’s a nice little bonus I’m keeping an eye on.
