In this video I’m back talking One UI 8.5 Beta 2. This update actually dropped last Monday, so I’ve had a full week to live with it and see what’s real versus what just looks good on a changelog. I go through what Samsung says they fixed—stuff like Quick Panel spacing/location issues, boot-up behavior with Quick Panel settings, Gallery organization, call screen stutters, volume button problems under certain conditions, and even Bluetooth car kit call audio issues. I also show a couple of the weird changes I’m seeing, like how the Quick Panel is behaving now and how adding tiles back in isn’t as straightforward as it should be. Then I get into the part that surprised me the most: battery life. Beta 2 has hit battery on my Galaxy S25, my Galaxy Ring, and even my Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. I’m still getting through most days, but I’m having to be more mindful with screen-on time and media use, and the Ring in particular is draining way faster than normal. Overall performance has been solid outside of some third-party app refresh/RAM behavior (YouTube and Instagram for me), and I’m also happy to see Good Lock starting to catch up—QuickStar is finally working on 8.5, even though some features are still temporarily limited until the official release.
