About This Video

In this video I put the Track Synthesis through an “area check on aisle three” at Royal Crest Lanes on Kegel Chromium and tried to answer the big question: is this thing the next true heavy-oil monster for Track, or is it just strong on paper? The Synthesis is built around the I-Core Gen 4 (lower diff than the Paragon Shadow, but a big jump in intermediate diff), wrapped in the QR2 HK22C Solid at 1500 grit. On paper that’s “hooks a bunch and turns,” but what we actually saw early was a ball that could burn up and look a little lazy until we got some games on it and knocked the chalk off. Once the surface settled down, the reaction got a lot more consistent and forgiving—more of that archy, tumbly “big boulder rolling down the lane” look. My key takeaways were: this is an oil hog, it’s directional, and it’s basically an Archetype 2.0 vibe—similar to the original Archetype but earlier and a touch stronger rolling. If you want a big, controllable heavy-oil solid that hooks and doesn’t just turn sideways, this is absolutely in that conversation. The tradeoff is it doesn’t love friction, and that control can come with more corner pins—especially for lower power bowlers—so it’s a “hit the pocket a lot” ball more than a “strike from anywhere” ball.
