About This Video

In this review I put Swag’s new Assassin through a full breakdown—what it is on paper, what it actually does on the lane, and where it fits in a real arsenal. We tested at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kansas on Kegel Chromium, and I also sprinkled in some league footage because this is one of those balls that can look “meh” on a fresh test and then quietly become automatic once there’s some friction and transition. The Assassin is a symmetric piece (2.52 RG, .048 diff in 15lb) with the Dagger Pearl cover and the AP26 additive, and I left it box at first before we ended up at 1000 grit—something Angel does a lot on this pattern. My key points are smooth, arcy-tumbly, and climbing… and “silent but deadly.” It’s weaker and smoother than a lot of people are going to assume from the surface and core numbers, but that’s the whole point: control and stability. It’s a ball-down option from stronger shiny symmetrics, and it’s not a speed-dominant ball, but for tricky transition, cliffed house shots, playing on top of urethane, or a Nationals team pattern vibe, this thing can be virtually free. If you want a ball that helps you shoot 200 when everyone else is lost, this is exactly the lane-control tool I’m talking about.
