About This Video

In this video I put Storm’s new Ion Max Pearl through a full, in-depth review on Kegel Chromium at Royal Crest Lanes. I go over the specs (Element Max AI core with that super low 2.47 RG, high .055 diff, and .014 int diff) and then get into what actually matters: what it looks like going down the lane and why it’s not “just another shiny pearl.” It’s a straight-up pearl version of the original Ion Max—same vibe, just cleaner and sharper—while still being plenty early and diggy because it’s a nano-based cover. The big takeaway is you have to respect the strength. This ball is arcing, climbing, and kind of tumbly/chuggy in the best way—more heavy rolling than most pearls people think of. It’s basically an “Exotic 2.0” for me, and if you’ve been looking for an Exotic Gem replacement, this is it. Out of the box it favors fresher conditions and can feel a little sensitive/jumpy on the fresh, but it’s also super high-usage for a ton of bowlers—especially speed dominant players who want a strong ball with pop that still keeps the lane controlled.
