About This Video

In this video I put the new Storm Bionic on the lane at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kansas on Kegel Chromium, and I’ll just say it up front: this thing has serious wow factor. The Bionic releases February 27th, and it’s a really smart mix of new and familiar—Storm’s new Torsion AI core (basically a symmetric version of the ION Max core) wrapped in NRG Hybrid, which is the original Physix cover. On paper it lives in that low-RG, strong-diff “Phase 2 / Rockstar territory,” but the motion you actually get is way more dynamic than most people expect from a symmetric. My key takeaways: it’s sneaky strong, it’s directional, and it has that hockey-stick move without hook-stopping. Tobias is speed dominant and normally symmetrics are hit-or-miss for him, but this one flat-out looked like an asymmetric—clean, crisp, readable, and it keeps going when you move in. If you need a medium-to-heavy oil ball that will pick up down lane with energy and authority, the Bionic is absolutely in your wheelhouse. The only real “con” is the obvious one: it’s strong and fast, so slow/inside misses can get you in trouble… and it’s the kind of ball you’ll want to throw even when you probably shouldn’t.
