About This Video

In this video I revisit the Roto Grip Transformer now that we’ve had a little time to process it, and I’ve got a couple things to walk back plus some new observations. We tested at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kansas on what we believe was Kegel Chromium (it honestly felt flatter than normal), and I went back to showing strikes and misses together so you can see the actual “find it, then push it” process. The big talking point is the new asymmetric Morph Wing core and what happens depending on whether you drill into the wing or miss it. The Transformer I’m reviewing is drilled to miss the wing, and that’s where I really see the “doesn’t lock up” benefit—more of that round, continuous, almost symmetric-style climb that keeps going when you get left. I’d call it tunable but safe, dynamic, and basically an Absolute Power 2.0 type of overall strength: not a giant fresh-only hook monster, but not a super clean/flippy pearl either. My best outside comparison is Jackal Ghost territory, with the big pro being how clean and sharp it can be while still staying controllable and stable. The main “con” is typical medium-cover behavior: it can hang in oil and jump on friction, but most misses in this session were operator error, not the ball.
