About This Video

In this WAN Show, I’m basically losing my mind (in a good way) over Framework’s latest win: the Framework 13 Pro is selling like crazy, and Narav says Batch 7 is already sold out. But the real headline is that over 50% of those sales are Ubuntu configs, which is either the “year of the Linux desktop” finally happening… or the “year of Windows humiliation” getting even funnier. Luke and I argue about whether people are just dodging the Windows license fee, but we also land on the more interesting point: a bunch of folks might actually try Linux, realize “the water’s warm,” and stick with it—especially as Windows keeps getting more annoying and intrusive. We also riff on what Framework should build next, and I make the case for a Framework TV—not because they’ll invent new quantum dots, but because I’d pay extra for a TV that just gets out of my way: boots to an input, doesn’t drown you in ads, and doesn’t do creepy screenshot telemetry. Then we pivot to AI going “back on-prem” with an offline Gemini appliance for air-gapped environments, which is basically a cloud-era reality check. And yes, we hit Tesla too: Musk finally admits Hardware 3 can’t do unsupervised FSD, full stop—meaning a lot of owners are stuck needing major hardware swaps if they ever want what was implied.
