This week on the WAN Show, I’ve basically been living on the MacBook Neo, and yeah… it’s the real deal. As a daily driver for web browsing, writing, chat, and general “getting stuff done,” it’s just enjoyable in a way that’s hard to quantify—everything you actually touch and interact with feels great. But I also ran head-first into the stuff that drives me up the wall: I/O limitations when you try to dock it, weird external display behavior (especially with my not-exactly-normal Dell 6K display), occasional full display disconnects, and some truly baffling “why is this like this?” Mac app install quirks—especially when the app isn’t in the App Store. I also hit intermittent Wi‑Fi/video streaming weirdness where YouTube and Frame.io just… wouldn’t load until I rebooted. Performance is great until it’s not, but Spotlight search? Dude, it made me mad at Windows all over again—because it’s so good by default. Then we got into the bigger picture: Apple apparently under-forecasted Neo demand so badly they’re running out of A18 Pro “binned” chips, and they might have to restart production or reshuffle the lineup. And after that, we nerded out over a rumored Steam FPS estimator feature (which is insanely useful), plus some Nintendo pricing/patent drama.
