About This Video

I’ve been on and off with gaming for a while, and the Kiwi Ears Aether is the set that legit made me come back—because until now, I didn’t really have anything that could hang with something like the Hexa or above it for competitive play. In this video I break down why the Aether is the most detailed IEM I’ve tried, with the widest soundstage I’ve ever heard in an IEM. The tuning here straight-up feels like “wall hacks” in games like Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, and even Apex (though Apex can get messy), because the imaging and separation are so strong that “where you hear is where they’re at” actually applies. But I’m also clear about who this is NOT for. If you only care about fun music listening, want big bass without EQ, have smaller ears, or want a one-and-done do-everything set, the Aether can disappoint. It’s a neutral-bright, upper-mid/treble-forward tuning with restrained bass—great for detail and competitive cues, but it can get fatiguing and it’s terrible for commutes because road noise just eats the low end. I also talk about the planar timbre (fast decay, less natural sustain), the massive shell size that can hurt over long sessions, and the honestly disappointing accessories. Still, if your ears can handle the housing and you love to tinker with EQ, this can be endgame-for-gaming value around $170—so I gave it my highest rank to date: A tier.
