In this stream I finally unboxed the Simgot EG280 that Simgot sent over, and yeah—same as always, I’m not gonna gas it up just because it was sent to me. I went through the box, accessories, tips, case, and cable situation, and honestly it’s mostly “same vibes” as the EW300… except the EG280 comes with a USB-C DAC dongle and an inline mic, which already bumps the value up for the same price. I still kinda expected more for $80 (and yes, when I say it out loud, $80 is not “cheap cheap”), but at least you get a case—some $100 IEMs don’t even do that. After that I did my usual nerd stuff: weight checks, full shell/nozzle measurements, and quick fit notes (it’s on the shallower side, and it can touch some parts of my ear—could be a pain point after hours). Then I tested the companion app and the DSP side: it actually works, has 10 EQ slots, and an 8-band PEQ, which is already better than a lot of apps out there that crash or don’t save. Sound-wise, my first impression is this is tuned like it wants to game—bright, with strong sub-bass extension, recessed mids, and a spicy peak in the upper range that can get sibilant for music… but for FPS cues, that brightness is usually exactly the point.
