In this stream, I unbox the Fosi Audio IM4 and do my straight-up first impressions—no fluff. This is a “quote unquote open-back” single 10mm DD IEM (109 dB, 21 ohms) that sits around the $100-ish range, and I wanted to see if it’s overhyped or actually good. Before even listening, I went in on the packaging and accessories because, real talk, a lot of $100 sets lately have been slacking. Here, Fosi actually did it right: a decent faux-leather zipper case with some crush protection, a nice-looking cable (not modular though), and multiple tip sets. For me, this is the bare minimum you should be getting at $100—especially if you’re in places where $100 is still $100. I also measured the shells (weight and dimensions) and checked fit, because comfort isn’t just “vibes”—it’s shape, nozzle length, and how it seals. The IM4 is light (about 6.45g per side) and sits pretty flush, but the nozzle feels a bit shallow for my ears, so long sessions will depend on your fit/tips. On first listen, I immediately hear some upper-mid/treble energy: there’s a peak around ~2.2–2.3 kHz and another around ~4–5 kHz, and it can get close to shouty/peaky at higher volume. Bass doesn’t feel like it’s bulldozing the mix, and my early take is this tuning could be pretty good for gaming (I also do a Valorant test in the full stream).
