In this video I finish up one of my favorite “cheap & easy” upgrades you can do to an old bass boat—modern push-button controls and lighting. I’m working on my 1999 Nitro, and after last week’s deck light install (the ones that make the boat look like a freaking UFO), I went all-in and rewired the boat so everything runs through a Nilight 8-gang RGB switch panel. That means no more relying on those old 1999 turn knobs and crusty factory wiring—now it’s all clean, labeled, and push-button like a newer rig. While I was waiting on parts (and dealing with an Alabama arctic blast), I gutted and cleaned the rear hatch area, sealed it up, and painted it white so it doesn’t look like the “dirty area” of the boat anymore. Then I added thin LED hatch lights (white in most compartments and blue in the ones I’ll be in at night), plus livewell lights, nav lights control, and USB ports so I can keep my phone and cameras charged. I also show how the app works, how I mounted the fuse box, and how I programmed the buttons/colors so it still looks as factory as possible—even though this kind of tech definitely didn’t exist in ’99.
