In this video I’m giving you an exclusive first look at Vallejo’s upcoming TRUE METALLIC METAL system—what I honestly think is the most complete metallic paint range ever made. This is a sponsored video and it’s not a full review (I don’t have all the paints yet), but I was so excited about the range—and because I helped develop it—that I asked for permission to show it ahead of release. The system is massive: 80 paints split into 20 tonal families, and each family has a Light, Base, Shade (transparent), plus an Airbrush version of the Base. It’s designed to be coherent, color-matched, and easy to use. I walk you through a very basic, very practical approach using Sapphire Blue and Ruby Red. I basecoat (airbrush or brush—both work), then I show why the range shines with the BSL concept: you can paint “classic” with glazing/layering, or you can go super simple with drybrushing and a unifying Shade layer—perfect for beginners or fast army painting. The Shade paints are like an evolution of Xpress/Express-style paints, but made to preserve the metallic shine instead of killing it with a matte finish. I also show quick edge highlights with the Light paints, and I finish by playing with other triads like Imperial Gold and Aged Metal to show how clean and consistent the finish can be.
